Reading Notes: The Destiny of Sun Wu Kung

Kong: Skull Island
Skull Island Ape: Source
Reading Notes:
  • Sun Wu Kung has trampled over the heavens and continued to cause mischief wherever he goes
  • Buddha is summoned and has come to speak with the ape
  • Sun wants to take over the Lord of Heavens because he is all powerful and immortal
  • Buddha begins to make the ape feel inferior, saying that all he can do is shapeshift
  • Buddha makes him a wager stating that if he can leave his hands he can be Lord of the Heavens
  • The ape laughed and agreed
  • The ape/Saint though he tumbled to the end of the earth and wrote out "The Great Saint Who is Heavens Equal"
  • The ape was tricked and thought he had escaped but really didn't
  • Buddha used elemental forces to trap the ape on a mountain
  • He was left for hundreds of years until was released to help the Monk, who was his master
  • Guan-Yin gave the Monk a ring that had the ape, newly named "The Wandered" inside of it.

Sun Wu Kung - Great Saint - The Wanderer

The tall columns that the ape thought he saw was actually Buddhas hands? Do more research on this

Think I may need to add more context to the story retelling so people are aware of what is going on: how he stole wine, fruit, etc.

Remember how powerful he became, but it all started with him jumping through the waterfall

Story of rags to riches maybe, then riches are taken away after acting mischeavious
