Reading Notes: El Khudr the Evergreen
Temple Mount: Source |
- El Khudr or "Evergreen one" is a saint that is said to have been successful in discovering the fountain of youth
- Some adventures had even been so close (see fish example in story) and they still couldn't find it.
- Dhu’lkarneyn, the two-horned Alexander, was one of these people and went to build cities called "Alexandria" but weren't immortal due to them not finding the fountain of youth.
- El Khudr found and drank out of the fountain. He appears to correct the wrongs in the world.
- El Khudr is identified with Phinehas, the son of Eleazar.
- He often appears whenever mothers summon him if their children are in danger.
- He also is associated with Christianity, Moslem, and Jewish religions.
- People pray to him, but he worships Allah on Fridays
Think it would be a good idea to turn this into a story more than a description. While I liked it, it sets up for very good use of characters and a good plotline. I think this could be used to create a story to describe El Khudr but with a little bit more drama, action, etc.
