• Beowulf and Grendle are fighting in the hall of Heorot
• They were fighting among others but neither could gain an advantage 
• They fell making the earth shake
• Grendle began to run away but Beowulf went for the throat
• Beowulf rips off Grendles arm as stench oozed out of Grendle
• Grendle flees the scene
• The people hoisted up Grendles arm
• All the people came to see what Beowulf had done

Notice again how descriptive the wording is

Additionally, note the adjectives that are being used - might be good to use this wordplay when retelling the story
