- A man hunting in the woods finds a snake trapped under a stone
- The man freed him and the snake tried to eat him because hunger does not observe promises
- They find a greyhound who is old and he is on the snakes side
- They find a horse and he is also on the snakes side
- They find a fox and the fox asks to see where the snake was originally
- The fox tricks the serpent into going back under the rock and the serpant is caught again
