- Two great friends made a pact that whoever should marry first must invite the other to his wedding; dead or alive
- After a year one of the men fell ill and died
- The other man lived on, and when he was about to get married he drove past the graveyard and remembered his promise
- He went to the grave and invited his deceased friend to the wedding
- His dead friend popped out and offered him a drink
- The man wanted to leave, but came into his home in the grave and drank some liqour and a hundred years passed
- He drank another cup and two hundred years passed
- He drank a third and three hundred years passed
- The man left for the wedding but the grave was gone and everything was different
- He went into town and everything was also changed
- He went to the chruch and the priest found a story about a similar occurance that had occurred
- His dead friend actually married his own wife while he was in the grave
